Students from Glebelands primary recently came on a tour of the Palace of Westminster organised by the Parliament Education Service, which works with schools to support young people’s understanding of democracy.
I met with the pupils to talk to them about what I do as the MP for Leicester West and to answer their questions. They asked me all sorts of things from why I became a Member of Parliament, to what I like and don’t like about being an MP, and – the toughest question of all! – “Why are there so many wars in the world?”
I think it’s really important that young people learn about our Parliament and our democracy, which is why I regularly encourage all of our schools to get in touch with the Parliament Education Service and visit Westminster.
