Last month I helped launch Leicester’s Football Investment Programme which is investing £11.6 million to improve facilities for grassroots football across the city.
I joined Steve Walsh, Muzzy Izzet, the Lord Mayor, Cllr Rob Wann and others at New College which has already used money from the programme to transform its facilities.
They’ve got a new full-size floodlit all-weather pitch, a floodlit grass pitch, six changing rooms, two referees’ rooms, a club room, reception area and kitchen. These facilities will be used by local teams, Allexton & New Parks FC and also be available to the local community.
