I have been campaigning with local ward Councillors for a city-wide solution to the problem of unauthorised traveller camps. The Council has responded by consulting on a proposal to build three authorised gypsy and traveller sites at Greengate Lane, Beaumont Way and Red Hill Way.
I know many of my constituents have huge concerns about these proposals. I recently attended the 600 strong public meeting held by the Council at Leicester Leys Leisure Centre where local residents expressed the strength and depth of their feelings about the proposed sites.
I am working hard to ensure the questions raised by local residents are fully answered by the Council. I will also be submitting a very strong response to the consultation which reflects the concerns of my constituents. Please do contact me at liz.kendall.mp {at} parliament(.)uk to let me know your views.
I would also urge you to submit your own response directly to the Council as it’s vital they understand how local people feel. The deadline is Friday the 13th April and you can find further information by visiting:
