On Friday 13th September I spoke at the East Midlands CARE association conference in Leicester.
The ageing population is one of the biggest challenges we face as a country and a society, and its particularly important here in the East Midlands because we have the most rapidly ageing population of any region in England.
I spoke about the need to better join up NHS and social care services, shift the focus towards prevention, and ensure care users and their families have more say and more control. I will work closely with local care providers across Leicester as Labour develops its plans for ‘whole person care’ in future.
