On Friday 9th May, I visited the heart failure team at Glenfield Hospital to show my support for European Heart Failure Awareness Day. Heart failure is a serious condition that affects more than 750,000 in the UK. It’s caused by the heart failing to pump enough blood around the body at the right pressure and usually occurs because the heart muscle has become too weak or stiff to work properly.
During the visit, I met with patients like John Reynolds, who spoke really highly of the care he’d received at Glenfield. I also met some fantastic doctors and nurses including Cardiology Consultants Jan Kovac and Ian Loke, the Senior Sister Ellen Brightling and the Heart Failure Specialist nurse, Louise Clayton. I’m really proud of the team at Glenfield and will always champion the brilliant work they do.
