New College school received £9m from Labour’s Building Schools for the Future programme to rebuild and refurbish its facilities. This will include new classrooms, a new block for sixth form and drama, music and community facilities.
On my latest visit, Jane Brown – the Head teacher – showed me how the building work is going. The new facilities look brilliant, and I’m really excited to see the final results.
New College is already in the top 10% of schools nationwide for outstanding improvement. Jane and all the teachers and staff are determined to do even better for their pupils in future, and I know the new building and facilities will make a real difference in ensuring all our young people get the very best start in life.
