There will soon be a referendum on Britain’s membership of the European Union. I believe staying in the EU is best for families, businesses and our country as a whole.
Being a member of the EU brings us jobs, growth, investment and security. Nationally, millions of British jobs are reliant on EU membership and £26.5 billion is investment in Britain by EU countries each year. British workers benefit from EU agreements on workers’ rights, including the right to holiday pay, paid paternity and maternity leave, anti-discrimination laws and protection for agency workers.
Being a member of the EU brings huge benefits to our local area too. In Leicester West more than 9,000 jobs are dependent on our membership of the EU and EU funding has supported local initiatives like Business Box and B-Enterprising, which help people start and grow their own businesses.
