I was recently interviewed on ITV’s Central Lobby, where I discussed improving social mobility in the East Midlands.
The recent report from the Social Mobility Commission found disadvantaged children in the East Midlands have the worst educational and career prospects in the country. I know children from the most disadvantaged parts of my constituency start school up to 20 months behind where they should be in terms of their development. If we are going to improve their life chances, we need to invest in early years support to make sure every child starts school ready to learn.
On the show, we also discussed Brexit, and the results of our fantastic campaign to keep children’s heart surgery at Glenfield Hospital.
