I recently met with members of the Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce to discuss the local challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for businesses in Leicester. These included Simon Duxbury from Clements, a manufacturing company which employs about 80 people on Parker Drive making point of sale products for the retail sector.
Some of the issues the businesses raised included the need for better roads and public transport to get people to and from work, the importance of clear lines of communication between businesses and the city council, and Leicester’s shortage of medium sized manufacturing units. I’ll be making representations about all these issues as part of Leicester City Council’s consultation on the local plan.
