Due to cuts being made by the Conservative Government, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service is being forced to make difficult decisions about services in this area. Proposals have been put forward to close Central Station and Western Fire Station is due to lose one of its engines on 2nd January 2016.
I held a public meeting at the beginning of the month to ensure local residents’ views about these cuts are heard loud and clear. I am especially concerned about the proposal to remove one of Western’s fire engines and have sent a letter to the Combined Fire Authority urging that the removal of our engine at Western Fire Station is put on hold until the wider consultation process has been completed.
