Backing our schools as they boost aspiration and achievement

photo

On my most recent visit to Braunstone Community Primary School, I spoke in an assembly about my role as a local MP and discussed many of the career opportunities that exist if children aim high and work hard. I also took part in a reading session with a smaller group of young children to reinforce the importance of literacy in all aspects of their life.

My visit took place during Primary Futures Week, a national drive to promote the Inspiring the Future programme. This encourages people from all sectors and professions to visit local schools and colleges and talk about their careers as a way of inspiring the next generation. I’d strongly encourage you to get involved, if you’re a school, you can sign up here and if you want to volunteer, you can sign up here.
