Labour outline plans to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour

After 13 years, the Conservative legacy is criminals being let off while victims are let down. Everyone has a right to feel safe and secure in their homes and in their community. But the Conservatives are soft on crime, with millions of victims paying the price. Communities feel under threat, while police have disappeared from our streets, with thousands of neighbourhood police cut. Trials are delayed for years because of the biggest courts backlog on record, with a record number of criminals getting off scot-free. Rape victims are suffering from their ordeal for years while bravely pursuing justice.

That’s why the Labour Party are announcing a series of pledges outlining how we will relentlessly uphold the rule of law and keep communities safe.

  • Labour will prevent crime by putting 13,000 extra neighbourhood police and PCSOs on our streets.
  • Labour will punish anti-social behaviour offenders with tougher sentences for offenders.
  • Labour will protect communities with more police, more action to stop young people being drawn into crime, more prosecutions and by standing up for victims

Meanwhile, Labour have also announced clean up squads for fly-tippers and rubbish dumpers as part of wider plans to tackle anti-social behaviour – with tough penalties for fly-tippers and establish clean up squads whereby offenders will clear up litter and vandalism they have dumped. They will be given Fixed Penalty Cleaning Notices that will be managed by the Local Authority.
