My work to encourage people in Leicester to get tested for diabetes was recently covered in the Leicester Mercury. You can read the article here.
Rates of diabetes in Leicester are higher than the national average, with almost 1 in 10 people in the city living with the condition. Diabetes can lead to complications such as heart attacks, strokes and amputations but early diagnosis can save lives, prevent a medical emergency, and reduce the risk of life-changing complications later. That’s why it’s vital people get tested.
I recently did a test myself at Vision Pharmacy on Narborough Road. It was quick and painless, and I would encourage everyone to go out and get one themselves.
