Liz hears calls for change made by people with a learning disability

An important event took place in Parliament with the charity ‘Hft’ bringing together politicians from all parties to hear calls for change made by people with a learning disability.

I met with Shaun who told me about the importance of social care to him. He said that it helps him get out into the community, to meet with friends, to support him.

However, he told me about the changes he believes needs to take place to ensure that staff vacancies are filled and that everyone gets the care that they need.

Labour will reform our health and care services so all older and disabled people get the right support. We will recruit and retain the care workers and district nurses needed to care for people in the comfort of their own home and their own community.
