You may be aware that Mark Group, formerly the UK’s largest installer of energy efficiency improvements, went into administration a couple of weeks ago. With its head office in Beaumont Leys, the company was a major and very valuable local employer so this news came as a devastating blow.
My immediate priority has been to the hundreds of my constituents and their families who woke up to find that they no longer had a job. On Thursday 15th October, I held a jobs fair to provide practical support and opportunities for my constituents, and over 40 local employers took part.
My work with those affected won’t stop here. I want to see a proper long-term plan to help businesses in the solar industry like the Mark Group, which is why I’ve written to the Government’s Business and Environment Secretaries to ask for a meeting so I can press for a better deal.
