On Friday 22nd June, I joined carers who use CLASP, the Carers Centre for a bite of lunch at Chutney Ivy, to mark the end of National Carers Week.
I spoke to Charles, the centre manager, and was really pleased to learn that even in these difficult economic times, Leicester City Council is continuing to fund CLASP’s work.
This includes providing £15,000 for CLASP’s “Caring with Confidence” training programme.
Established under the last Labour government, ‘Caring with Confidence’ helps carers understand how the care system works, gain skills in caring, and get practical help and support to deal with the emotional and financial strains caring can bring.
CLASPs “Caring with Confidence” course was ranked in the top 3 places in the country and I am really pleased that they are able to continue this vital work.
