On November 8th, I met residents at Quadrant House – a complex of flats with extra support to help older people stay living independently.
The residents told me they are very concerned about proposals to change the way their personal alarms are funded. They are worried that people will struggle to pay for these alarms individually, and that some of the most vulnerable residents could end up without the safety and reassurance these alarms provide.
The Quadrant residents presented a petition about these proposals to me, and Abbey Ward Councillor Vijay Riyait. We are going to take this issue up with the Council so we can find a proper solution, as a matter of urgency.
