Liz raises concerns about access to justice and patient safety

On 4th December, I met with the Justice Minister Lord Keen to raise serious concerns about Government plans to limit the legal costs and damages for clinical negligence cases.

Patient groups are very worried the Government’s plans will harm access to justice for patients and their families, particularly in cases involving older people, child death and stillbirth.

Patient groups are also worried the plans will harm patient safety and discourage the open and learning culture in the NHS.

I have written to the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt and Justice Secretary David Lidington to raise my serious concerns and urge them to improve the plans.
