Liz helps promote awareness of diabetes

Last week I took part in a special event on diabetes in the House of Commons. I joined other MPs to take a Type 2 diabetes test, to help raise awareness about the need for public testing for the condition.

An estimated 1 million people in the UK may have diabetes without knowing it, and the NHS spends around £1m an hour on diabetes related illnesses. The key to preventing diabetes is a healthy diet and regular exercise.

I hope people will take this quick and simple test as it can help save lives.
