Liz takes part in dementia debate

dementia debate 1On 10th January I took part in the best debate I’ve attended since becoming a Member of Parliament, about the need to improve care for people with dementia.

The debate was passionate and constructive. MPs from all the different political parties talked about the problems faced by people with dementia and their relatives, and what needs to be done to improve diagnosis rates, medical research, care services and support for families in future.

Many of my colleagues gave moving speeches about their personal experiences. I summed up the debate as Labour’s Shadow Minister for Care and Older People; you can read my speech here.

I have also written about the debate in the Leicester Mercury – you can read the article here.
