I’m a big supporter of local NHS community services – like district nurses and community matrons – who help older people and patients with long-term conditions stay healthy and living independently in their own homes.
On Wednesday 31 July I visited the call centre that co-ordinates community services across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, which is based in New Parks. I chatted to Emily Davies, an apprentice, and nurse Shelley Woodruff. They told me how important these services are, and how much they enjoy working for the NHS. I want to make sure we protect and improve these vital services in future.
