Economic inactivity is holding Britain back – it’s bad for people, it’s bad for businesses, and it’s bad for growth.

And so it was fantastic to visit Leicester’s job centre and supported employment service to hear about their support for people in Leicester to get into and on in work.

Staff spoke about need to improve childcare, help young people with mental health problems, encourage employers to offer more opportunities for disabled people and provide support with digital skills

It is time for change in every corner of the country – including here in Leicester. Labour will create more good jobs, make work pay, transform skills, and overhaul jobcentres, alongside action to tackle the root causes of worklessness including poor physical and mental health.
