I spoke to BBC East Midlands Today about the impact that lockdown has had on Leicester over the past six months. When many areas of the country were preparing to re-open their hospitality sector and non-essential businesses, our city was put into an extended lockdown, with no idea when we would be able to visit our friends and family again.
We did not get the additional support we needed from the government, our council did not get the data it needed to tackle outbreaks, and we did not get clear communications about changes to lockdown restrictions.
The government must learn from the mistakes it made in Leicester and offer lockdown areas extra support to make this terrible situation a little easier.
