Publish social care crisis plan in Queen’s Speech, voters tell Boris Johnson

A new survey has revealed that 69% of people believe social care should be a top priority. This pandemic has laid bare the challenges our social care system has faced over the last decade. The Conservative Party weakened its foundations by cutting local authority social care budgets by £8 billion, despite growing demand, and they failed to treat social care as a priority when coronavirus struck.

We cannot build a better future for our country after Covid-19 without transforming social care. These vital services are as much a part of our infrastructure as the roads and the railways.

The Prime Minister promised to ‘fix the crisis in social care’ almost two years ago. This new research makes it clear – in today’s Queens Speech, he must deliver on his promises and finally present his plan for social care reform.
