On Friday I went to ASDA Fosse Park to support their Community Life initiative. ASDA invites shoppers to vote for their preferred local charity and every two months, they donate £200 to the winner and £50 each to the runners up.
On this occasion the runners up were the Leicestershire Parents Group for Diabetes and the Bamboozle Theatre Company, which helps children with disabilities and autism.
The winner was the Carers Centre, and I presented their cheque to founder member and volunteer Patricia Durant and fundraiser Pamela Thompson. They both really appreciated the generosity and kindness of ASDA and local shoppers and said that the money will go a long way in helping support their work.
