Supporting the right to patient choice for mental health care

[08/11/2016 | No comment]

One of my constituents, Mr Hardy, recently told me about the difficulties he has been having getting mental health care under patient choice.

The right to patient choice within the NHS gives patients access to an alternative service should they feel they would benefit from treatment elsewhere. However, despite a number of referrals, Mr Hardy had not been able to get the care he wanted.

I raised this issue with the Secretary of State for Health, and as a result I am very pleased to say that Mr Hardy’s referral to another service provider has been accepted and he is going to start treatment next month.

If you are a constituent in Leicester West and are experiencing problems like this, please get in touch with my office on either by writing to 42 Narborough Road, Leicester, LE3 0BQ, via email at liz.kendall.mp {at} parliament(.)uk or phone on 0116 2044980. I can’t promise that I will always be able to solve your problems, but I can promise that I will do my very best.
