Liz raises continued gaps in Government Covid-19 support for businesses and employees

Several weeks into the Covid-19 pandemic, many businesses and employees are still falling through the gaps in the Government’s financial support. I’m continuing to push the Government to make sure its financial support is as fair and inclusive as possible.

Along with loopholes in the business support grant schemes which I recently raised, many hard-working business owners in Leicester West are unable to access the Self-employment Income Support Scheme – for example those who take their income through dividend payments.

And while the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme cut-off date has been moved to March 19th, in practice this still leaves many new starters unable to benefit from the scheme.
