Last week I met with the East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS), Acting Chief Executive, Richard Henderson, and Chairman, Pauline Tagg to discuss the recent inspection by The Care Quality Commission which stated the ambulance service requires improvement.
During our discussion, I heard about the plans EMAS has put in place to improve the service provided to its patients. In particular, EMAS are recruiting more staff to the ambulance service and are working with other agencies, such as our local hospitals and GPs to ensure service users have access to the support they need.
I will continue to monitor the work of EMAS very closely to ensure improvements are being made.
