Today the government announced the results of its review into Leicester’s lockdown. You can read the Health Secretary’s statement here.
My constituents and people across our city will be desperately disappointed that while non-essential retail can open, our hospitality sector cannot and travel restrictions still apply.
I will continue to push for Leicester to get the resources we need to bring infection rates even further down and support our local economy.
It is completely unacceptable that the government is refusing to provide extra support for local business and people on furlough, who are going the extra mile to do the right thing through no fault of their own.
The government must change course and give our city the extra funding and support we need.
