Women on banknotes

I have written to the Bank of England, along with 45 other women MPs and Peers, to express my concern following the Bank’s announcement that it intends to remove the only woman historical figure on our bank notes. This means for the first time in a decade only men will be celebrated on our bank notes.

Women have made a huge contribution to our society and economy so we are calling on the Court of Directors of the Bank of England to reconsider their decision at their next meeting on July 17th. You can show your support to keep women on banknotes by signing the petition here and read more about our campaign here and here.
