Helping young people get the high skill, high wage jobs of the future is a top priority for me as a local MP. That is why I am campaigning to ensure children in Leicester West benefit from the jobs being created in our city’s growing space sector.

Our fantastic Space Park is bringing together our world leading university research with business and industry in state of the art facilities. It aims to create 2,500 high skill, high paid jobs and generate £750m for the wider East Midlands economy.

Last week I helped host a “Leicester West Secondary School Takeover” day.  We put on a series of events and talks to inspire students from Babington, Beaumont Leys, Castlemead and New College to think about pursuing a career in the space sector including in engineering, science, IT, data and design.

It was an absolutely amazing day and I am so grateful to the Space Centre for helping to put it on!
