This year marked the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, and this August of VJ (Victory over Japan) Day.
VJ Day has often been overlooked, so the Government recognises the importance of
marking this 80th anniversary
People like those in Leicester West were prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice so we could
enjoy our way of life today.
I am proud to see this Government’s national commemorative events, and to see the community in
Leicester West celebrating our local history.
