I had the privilege of visiting community leaders at the Leicester Council of Faiths last week to discuss their vital work, and the recent social unrest seen in Leicester and across the country.
Thankfully, the violence seen elsewhere in the UK was not replicated here in Leicester, and I am very proud of all our communities for pulling together to reject violence and hate. I am also grateful to our local police for their hard work and efforts. However, we must remain vigilant at all times.
My role as the local MP here in Leicester is to do everything in my power to support our faith communities and local police, and to work to promote the unity, peace and respect that everyone in our city deserves.
