Last week, I visited Leicester’s fantastic interactive education centre, the Warning Zone. The Warning Zone is a charity which aims to equip young people with valuable life skills using realistic settings and scenarios.

My first stop was visiting the ‘e-safety’ area, which uses games to teach children about how they can keep safe online. Then I took a tour through the centre’s 8 risk zones which include a mock-up building site, a dark desolate walkway and a railway track. Each of the zones focuses on the risks that young people may encounter in everyday life, in order to teach them about the choices they can make and the consequences of their actions. I spoke with some of the students visiting the centre and was impressed by what they had learned in the short time they were there. I would really encourage all of our local schools and parents to take their students to the Warning Zone, and I will continue to support their work in future.
