Supporting project on child refugees

refugee

On Friday 29 January, I went to Glebelands Primary School to support their refugee awareness day. Mrs Sinhal, who teaches at the school, recently launched ‘Leicester Schools Welcome Refugees’, a project which aims to teach children about what its like to be a child refugee.

The school has already donated welcome packs with essential items for distribution by the Red Cross. On Friday, the children brought in teddy bears and I was overwhelmed by the number of teddies that had been donated, each of them with their own touching message. I think this is a fantastic initiative and would encourage as many local schools as possible to get involved.
