Liz leads cross-party group of MPs in fight to save children’s heart surgery unit

As you probably know, the Independent Reconfiguration Panel (IRP) is currently reviewing the decision to move children’s heart surgery from Glenfield to Birmingham.

I have been leading a cross-party group of East Midlands MPs to campaign against this decision. On 4th December we sent a letter to the IRP setting out the arguments in favour of keeping both children’s heart surgery services and children’s ECMO in Leicester. The letter was signed by 15 MPs, the Bishop of Leicester and Lord Bach of Lutterworth.

Lord Ribeiro, chair of the IRP, has now agreed to meet with us in the Houses of Parliament on 13th December.
