Liz speaks at Shree Jalaram Temple’s 25th Anniversary celebrations

It was an honor to mark the 25th Anniversary of the fantastic Shree Jalaram Temple which has always delivered brilliant services through their Community Centre on Narborough Road. They showcase the very best of the diversity and community spirit that makes Leicester so special.

The Temple officially opened the newly-renamed Virbaamaa Jalaram Community Centre, and a new Organ Donation Office to encourage organ donation among the Hindu community.

As the first and only centre of its kind in the UK, the new Organ Donation Office is a volunteer-run walk-in centre providing Leicester’s Gujarati-speaking community with accurate information about organ donation, as well as helping people register as organ donors.

The Shree Jalaram Temple have worked hard to improve the health of the community throughout its time in the city, including delivering mental health workshops in Gujarati and acting as an NHS COVID-19 vaccination centre. Through their Organ Donation Office, I know they will continue to deliver the great work they’ve become known for over the last 25 years. I am very grateful for everything they do for the city and I am so proud to represent them in Parliament.
