On Friday 4th November, I visited Willow Bank Day School which provides education for young people who are unable to attend mainstream school due to their health. Most of the students have mental health problems and each has a timetable tailored to their specific needs which supports them to move back to mainstream school where possible or on to further education.
It is really important that children who are experiencing mental health problems have access to good quality education. The school is concerned about proposed changes to the way the Government funds services like this in future. I will be raising this with the Education Secretary to make sure Willow Bank continues to get the funding it needs.
