Ministers lose control of NHS waiting times

GMB_1David Cameron promised to protect patient care, but instead he has lost control of NHS waiting times.

3 million people are now on the waiting list. The number of patients waiting more than 18 weeks for their treatment has increased by 50% since 2010. It’s especially worrying that the cancer waiting target has been missed for the first time ever.

Ministers say that they don’t want anyone waiting more than a year for their treatment, when they should be guaranteeing that nobody waits more than 18 weeks. The truth is that the Government has mismanaged the NHS and it’s patients who are paying the price.

I spoke about this on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, which you can watch again here – the story starts at around 6 minutes in. You can also read about the story in the Daily Mail and the Times.
