I set up the Leicester West Health and Social Care Forum to bring together local patients, families, clinicians, care workers, health bosses and others to improve services in my constituency.

Over 40 members of the forum met recently to discuss services for the frail elderly and people with long term health conditions. Our ageing population is something to be celebrated but we have to come up with new ways to help people stay healthy and remain independent. Whilst progress has been made, it was clear at our meeting that we’ve still got a lot of work to do to ensure that patients in Leicester receive the right care, in the right place and at the right time.
