On Friday 27th November, I was given a guided tour of Biffa to see improvements that had been made to the site. This follows the long standing work I’ve done to put pressure on Biffa and the Environment Agency, to tackle the awful odour smells that come from the plant.
During the site tour, I was pleased to see that some steps had been taken to combat the problem, such as new chimney stacks being installed and the continuous monitoring of their bio air filters. But far more must be done to tackle the appalling smells that local residents have to put up with. I will continue to put pressure on Biffa and the Environment Agency to find a permanent solution.
