Today’s announcement of the outcome of the New Hospital Programmes Review, which includes an updated schedule for University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust, marks the start of the Government being honest with patients in our city.
I understand that people will feel disappointed about delays in this process. I am angry and deeply frustrated that the previous Conservative government made promises they couldn’t keep, and didn’t even allocate funding for Leicester beyond this year.
In stark contrast to our predecessors, this Labour Government is getting on with delivering the vital hospital services we need in Leicester, with funding finally put on a firm footing.
