I’m exceptionally excited about the Olympics but didn’t get tickets for any of the games. So like most people, the closest I’ll get to seeing the games is on the sofa in my living room, glued to the TV.
That’s why I was so thrilled to be at the Abbey Park celebrations as we welcomed the Olympic Torch to Leicester. It’s a reminder that the games are not all about what happens in London. A point further highlighted by the Ninety-four schools in our city that have signed up to the Get Set Programme, which encourages children to lead healthy and active lives by getting involved in sport.
Above all, the Games are about celebrating the Olympic values of friendship, courage, determination, excellence, equality, respect and inspiration. These are exactly the sought of values that make our City such a fantastic place to live.
