Barbara Windsor’s widower is campaigning for better dementia care as her legacy – I agree that we need urgent social care reform to make sure that people with dementia and their families can access specialist support.
Over the next few years more and more families will be impacted by this condition, and Ministers need to take urgent action to prepare our social care system for the extra help people will need.
The Prime Minister promised on the steps of Downing Street that he would end the social care crisis, but this has once again been delayed. We need reform that takes dementia care seriously, and ensures that our social care system is fit for the future.
